TechGyrls-
The YWCA of the USA launched the YWCA
TechGYRLS in 1997 to create opportunities for under served girls to
explore the latest technologies in a nurturing, girls only environment.
The program encourages girls to delve into computer animation and
robotics technologies.
After School
Program- The YWCA Gyrls after school
program is designed to meet the individual needs of each girl to assist
her in maintaining good grades in school, to increase her knowledge in
technology and introduce her to potential career choices. Each girl will
receive homework and tutoring assistance every day.
Girls in Sports- The
Girls in Sports
clinic is a great way for young girls to see positive role models in
diverse areas of athletics. It has been proven that girls who are
involved in sports have a higher self esteem, do better in school and
have a decreased risk of being involved with drugs, alcohol and teen
pregnancy.
Moms R Us-
Throughout the program, each participant receives individualized
referrals to whatever assistance she may need. A full array of services
to each teen is provided, including job training, employment information
and daycare options.
