THREE STAR RATING ***

The YWCA of Bristol is proud to announce that the YWCA Children's Center is a Three Star Quality Childcare Agency. The Star System is a rating procedure developed by the State of Tennessee Department of Human Services Licensing Agency to provide parents with knowledge in determining a quality child care facility. A compilation of components in seven separate areas is rigorously reviewed to accumulate the three star rating. A Three Star Rating is the highest rating available to licensed child care agencies. For more information on the Three Star Rating, visit the State of Tennessee link.

CHILDREN'S CENTER

The YWCA Children's Center is the first and only full-service child care facility based on a sliding scale fee, serving children from 6 weeks to preschool age. The program is especially helpful to low income and single parent families.

Opening in 1987 with 20 preschoolers, the center has expanded to an enrollment of 84 and now includes infants and toddlers. With funds raised from Tribute To Women and a state grant, a new infant and toddler center was opened in 1993. About half of the enrollees receive tuition assistance through the United Way and Tribute donations.

MEALS
Children age one year and older receive breakfast, lunch and and afternoon snack in accordance with the nutritional guidelines set by the Child and Adult Care Food Program.

SPECIAL NEEDS
Child care services are offered in cooperation with the Tennessee Early Intervention System for children with special needs.

Teen parents are given priority for services to allow them to remain in school.

STAFFING
All staff receive training in developmentally appropriate practices, infant-child CPR, health and safety practices, and specific early childhood training geared toward individual age groups.

FEES
Weekly fees are determined by a sliding scale based on household income.

GOAL
The goal is to provide a quality educational program geared towards the social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth of each child. We recognize each child as a special and unique individual, and we hope to foster confidence and self-esteem in each one.

The combination of love and educational preparation from the trained staff make the YW Children's Center one of the best in the area.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER

In 1999 YWCA-Bristol began partnering with Wellmont in operating the Wellmont Child Development Center on the campus of Bristol Regional Medical Center. The aim is to provide care primarily to the children of the health care workers in the Wellmont facilities, with additional openings offered to other parents in need of child care within the community.

Newly constructed, this state-of-the-art facility offers extended hours, a security system, video monitoring, classroom computers, a multi-purpose room, age-appropriate outdoor play area, and nutritionally balance meals. The center accepts children from ages 6 weeks to 12 years.
